Ian Horne
Ian Horne is the Chair of Wao Aotearoa. Ian’s work experience has covered the public, private and NGO sectors.
Ian has led major IT transformations in both the banking and public sectors. Ian was recruited into the public sector to lead the implementation of the Public Finance Act and State Sector Act for the NZ Customs Service.
While with the NZ Customs Service he was the Senior Management lead for a comprehensive reform programme involving the design and implementation of new empowering legislation and the new technology base required to deliver the goals of the legislation. This was followed by a move to the Public Trust where Ian led the transition and migration of the business from a Corporation Sole to a Crown Entity.
In 2006 Ian joined the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority and played a key role in transforming the focus of the Authority from advocacy and home insulation to the preferred agency of the Government for carbon reduction programmes in the non-agricultural sector. His primary focus is now assisting not-for- profit organisations committed to ensuring any and all development meets the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
Ian will be helping launch the Wao Summit 2024 at the Opening Ceremony.
