Jane Llyod

Jane is a food system expert with over two decades experience working abroad and in New Zealand for leading organisations across the food supply chain, environmental think tanks, and with leading academics on food systems, climate change, public health, and public policy. She recently founded Springhouse Consulting, a boutique food systems consultancy in Wānaka.

Through her roles and research Jane has been afforded relationships with leaders from major companies and financial institutions, multilateral bodies, national, regional and state/provincial governments, policy makers, NGOs, funds, foundations, industry associations, grass roots organisations, and renowned universities around the world. She has a uniquely global-to-local perspective and takes a multi-disciplinary and systems-thinking approach to today’s food system challenges, where she focuses on food system resilience, food system sustainability, food insecurity, food related non-communicable disease, and equity.

Jane grew up in Dunedin and holidayed in the Wānaka/Hāwea area. She has a Bachelor of Consumer and Applied Sciences from the University of Otago, a Master of Arts in Psychology from the City College of New York, USA, and a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, USA. She recently published an article in Bio Medical Central Journal of Public Health looking at food system resilience in Aotearoa New Zealand and three other countries.

Jane will be introducing and opening the Food Resilience Day at the Wao Summit 2024.
