Wao Green Drinks presents: Becoming a B Corp - Balancing Purpose, Planet & Profit
New Zealand is fast becoming one of the B Corp hotspots around the globe. It's a certification for businesses looking to balance purpose, planet and profit. B Corps use the power of business to do more than seek profit.
Join us at Greenhawk accounting for networking and a conversation with some newly certified and soon to be certified B Corp businesses. Among the panellists are Kelly Brown (Greenhawk), Zoe Hawkins (Brand + Butter), Steve Wootton (Taylor Pass Honey) and Nadia Ellis (ex-Cardrona TC marketing manager, currently doing her masters thesis). Certification is a journey and we wanted to unpick a little more about the steps businesses needed to take to become certified and the reason why they've gone down this path.
A limited amount of complimentary drinks and nibbles will be on offer, so come on early!
Tickets $5 (+ booking fees from Humanitix)

Meet your speakers:
Kelly Brown - Co-Owner Greenhawk Chartered Accountants
Kelly Brown is a co-owner of Greenhawk Chartered Accountants, an accounting, tax, and performance partner for ambitious businesses. Based in Wānaka and Auckland, and now a certified B Corp, Greenhawk is all about helping business owners succeed – whatever success means to them.
Originally a marketer by trade, Kelly broadened her skill set several years ago by retraining in carbon accounting. Her focus is now two-fold – telling Greenhawk’s stories, and, importantly, helping Kiwi businesses measure and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
Zoe Hawkins - Co-Founder Brand + Butter
Zoe Hawkins is co-founder of Brand+Butter, the creative agency for change. An internationally awarded copywriter, Zoe traded her life in agency land for the Lake District some six years ago. She now uses her powers for good, bolstering regenerative businesses models with mindful marketing and supporting owners to become agents of change.
Steve Wootton - Field Manager at Taylor Pass Honey
With over 20 years of beekeeping experience, Steve leads our field team. With a very commercial and innovative mindset, Steve has been a very important figure in the development of our honey production and pollination programmes, and the success that has been seen to date. Steve also takes a lead role with landowner relationships and has a trusted working relationship with many key bee-industry leaders across New Zealand. The field team plays a huge role in delivering quality raw materials for use across our market channels.
Nadia Ellis - Independent brand and marketing strategist
Nadia Ellis brings 15+ years of ski and tourism marketing experience to the table, including many years leading the marketing team at Cardrona-TC. Currently working as an independent brand and marketing strategist, Nadia is also completing a Master’s degree. Her thesis explores the marketing and communication strategies of NZ B-Corps. Nadia will share insights on how NZ B-Corps leverage the certification, their challenges, and how to best maximise the benefits of B-Corp for profit and the planet.
The panel conversation will be facilitated by Monique Kelly, General Manager at Wao
